I’m afraid of the ocean. Yes, it’s a true fear. Not knowing what might swim underneath me, dark water with no shore in site, sinking ships (Titanic anyone?!) and the general intense uncertainty of being in the middle of nowhere.

It was much later in life that I discovered this fear actually has a name associated with it.
Thalassophobia. This fear was never intense, so I could go to the beach, enjoy the shallow water and sun, preferably with a good book and a drink nearby. That said, I never had the urge to go on
a cruise vacation.
I heard others doing it and raving. Promising me, that this is the most amazing,
relaxing time I will ever have. Yet I preferred to go on inland vacations.
All that changed once the Disney Cruise Line seed was planted in my brain. I started thinking… I should probably try it for my clients. It’s one thing to get information and know facts from the Disney College of Knowledge, but it’s another thing to KNOW what it’s really like to be on a massive boat the size of a building. So, I shoved Thalassophobia to the back of my brain and booked a cruise on the Disney Wish.
When booking a family vacation with young kids at different ages, I always have to plan activities that will be a good fit for all of us. A Disney park undeniably cater to each age since there is so much to do, yet I wondered if a cruise will have the same offerings. Additionally, I always say a little prayer, wishing that we will all have fun, that there won’t be any fighting (!), and that we will collect life long memories to reminisce on when we’re older.
What happened next absolutely changed the way I view the ocean and the way I travel with my family now. I’ll make it short and simple: a Disney Cruise is unquestionably one of my family’s favorite ways to do Disney these days.
From the start I was amazed with all the attention to details and personal service each guest
receives. Each cast member made us feel so welcome, as if we were the only guest that matters at each moment. The fear of being in the middle of the ocean wasn’t a thought in my mind when I was dining with my family, enjoying fireworks in the middle of the ocean and seeing the excitement on my children’s faces as they ran to the kids’ club. I don’t know what kind of pixy dust they sprinkle there, but I had to plead with my children to come out for dinner. My wish came true.
If you’re dreaming of a vacation that combines world-class entertainment, incredible dining,
magical experiences, and something for every age, a Disney Cruise Line sailing aboard the Disney Wish is one of the most unforgettable choices you can make. Whether you’re planning a family getaway or a romantic escape for two, Disney cruises stand out and should be at the top of your travel list.
